STATEMENT FROM ISLAMIC FOUNDATION SCHOOL ON COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
October 27th, 2017
We are pleased to announce that the Islamic Foundation of Toronto School (IFS) and the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada, Local 175 (the Union) have negotiated a first Collective Agreement, subject to ratification, and after labouring late into the night on a number of occasions over the preceding weeks. Thank you to our employees, the parties’ negotiating committees, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and the IFS community for all your hard work, support, and patience during this long and demanding process. We look forward to a productive and positive relationship between the parties.
We appreciate the hard work, commitment, and dedication of all the teachers for their continued devotion towards the betterment of the school and their students’ future. We also appreciate the support of the parents who entrust their children’s education to us.
The Union and IFS have agreed to meet to explore and to work towards the feasibility of re-opening the IFS High School, as the closure was not related to the unionization of IFS.
